THNIC Academy organized a training program entitled “Introduction to Programming” for high school students. This program serves as the second, or intermediate level in a series of three programming development courses. The content builds upon the knowledge gained from the first course and has as its aim to further enhance students’ programming skills and problem-solving abilities. Participants learn how to apply the programming skills they acquire to solve various real-life problems and challenges in their daily lives.

The “Introduction to Programming” course was introduced in its first year to serve as a bridge between the “Computational Thinking” course and the “Problem-Oriented Programming” course. This course places a strong emphasis on enhancing programming skills to a higher level to enable students to tackle moderately complex problem-solving tasks before progressing to the next course, which deals with even more intricate problem-solving challenges.

The training, divided into two weeks, took place on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. The first week of training was held on July 22 and 23, 2023. During the opening session, Mr. Parkpoom Tripatana, the director of THNIC Academy, welcomed the participants and provided a detailed overview of the course.

Following him, Asst. Prof. Dr. Akara Prayote, the head of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Faculty of Applied Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, along with a team of instructors, began the training program by revisiting the foundations of programming using the C++ language. Participants in the training program underwent intensive programming skill development through various laboratory exercises.

Week 2, July 28-30, 2023

the second week of training, participants learned about creating structures (struck) and functions. They also engaged in programming exercises to solve a variety of different problems. This comprehensive training approach helped them develop advanced programming skills. In total, 39 high school students from Tak province participated in this training program.

Upon the conclusion of the training, Mr. Parkpoom Tripatana, the director of THNIC Academy, summarized the training program and presented certificates to the 23 participants who successfully met all requirements. He also expressed gratitude to the trainers, led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Akara Prayote, along with the team assisting from the Department of Computer and Information Sciences, Faculty of Applied Science, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok. Additionally, he extended an invitation to those who attended to consider joining future training courses.
