THNIC organizes teacher training program on creating websites
The Thai Network Information Center Foundation, in collaboration with the Science Mathematics and Technology Teachers Association of Thailand and website ‘thaigoodview.in.th’, organized a training program entitled ‘Creating Websites with .th Domain Names.’ High school teachers of all branches of study from across the country were invited to attend the free two-day training. The websites created by each participating teacher were evaluated by a paenl of judges, and the winners from each of the 10 participating centers will advance to the national-level competition.
Currently, the number of internet users in Thailand is rapidly increasing across all age groups. However, there is still a lack of knowledge and understanding about domain names. The use of the .th domain is a way to build trust among internet users. Registering a .co.th domain confirms the identity of a website owner, indicating that the entity is legally registered and operational. Moreover, various organizations can utilize statistics and data to promote suitable activities and reduce issues such as website phishing or email scams.
To expand knowledge in creating websites using the .th domain, the Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNIC) has partnered with the Science, Mathematics and Technology Teachers Association of Thailand and website ‘thaigoodview.in.th’ to organize practical training programs. These free workshops are aimed at high school teachers of all subjects from across the country. The training aims to enhance their skills in website development using the .th domain.
Dr. Pensri Arunwatanamongkol, executive director of the THNIC Foundation, stated that this project aligns with the announcement by the Ministry of Education regarding the promotion and support of the teaching profession, educational staff, and ministry personnel in enhancing their digital technology capabilities. The THNIC Foundation is aware of the importance and benefits of increasing knowledge and understanding of using the .th and .ไทย domain names among teachers at all levels. This project serves as an initial step for high school teachers, enabling them to effectively pass on the knowledge gained from the training to their students. Additionally, it allows them to further utilize the .th and .ไทย domains on websites to create widespread benefits for communities and society as a whole.

Dr. Pensri Arunwatanamongkol stated, “We have set a goal to recruit high school teachers from all subject areas in schools nationwide, with 50 teachers from each of 10 selected provinces, or a total of 500 participants, to attend our training program in the first year. The expansion of this initiative is planned in the following years. The websites created by each trained teacher will be evaluated by a judging committee at the center level, and the winner from each center will have the opportunity to compete at the national level,” said Dr. Pensri.
The Science, Mathematics and Technology Teachers Association of Thailand has instructed each school to nominate teachers to apply for this training through an online system. Each school can nominate a maximum of two teachers, for a total of not more than 50 teachers.

Dr. Pornchai Inchai, the president of the Science, Mathematics and Technology Teachers Association of Thailand, said that the association expects teachers to have knowledge and understanding of the .th and .ไทย domain names. They have developed skills in website creation to be practically utilized and can impart this knowledge about using .th domain names to students. Additionally, teachers can demonstrate their ability in utilizing information technology in teaching and learning management that will benefit students, communities, and society in this digital era.
Dr. Pornchai Inchai went on to say, “In the future, the association will support its members, who are teachers of Science, Mathematics, and Technology, to have websites using .th domain names for organizing learning activities and disseminating learning media and teaching methodologies to fellow teachers nationwide.
“The topics of ‘Creating Websites and the Benefits of Using .th Domain Names’ and ‘Techniques for Building Educational Websites to be Familiar to Teachers, Students, and Parents’ are the subjects covered during this training program.”

Mr. Poonsak Sakkatatiyakul, the owner of the website thaigoodview.in.th, said that we will create a network for teachers who have websites with .th domain names to expand the network for teachers, students, and parents, helping them understand and recognize the importance of the .th domain. The websites webkru.in.th and เว็บครู.ไทย will serve as central hubs for the development of websites using .th domain names.
Poonsak Sakkatatiyakul went on to say, “All the websites of the teachers who attended the training, a total of 500 websites, will be showcased and made known to others. The websites webkru.in.th and เว็บครู.ไทย will serve as central platforms where all the websites can be accessed.”
Teachers who have applied to participate in this training come from 10 centers, including Bangkok, Lopburi, Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi, Surat Thani, Songkhla, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Chiang Mai, and Phitsanulok. The training sessions are taking place from February to June 2023.
