The Thai Network Information Center Foundation (THNIC), in collaboration with the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce; Thai Webmasters Association; Thai Electronic Commerce Entrepreneurs Association; Thai Digital Trade Association and Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), joined to promote the use of e-commerce by Thai businesses to increase their competitiveness. Support continues for Thai entrepreneurs who have registered with the Department of Business Development, both juristic persons and the general public. Those who register can immediately access an online store page and begin conducting business online using a free .th domain name. Entrepreneurs can apply to join the project at the website https://domain.online.th until 31 December 2022.

Nowadays, online services have become a new lifestyle that the COVID-19 pandemic also prompted business owners to offer, and for partners, customers and consumers to trust these business owners, reliability becomes more and more important.

Dr. Pensri Arunwatanamongkol, the executive director of the THNIC Foundation, said that Thai entrepreneurs should concentrate on creating a digital identity. An online shop expands their customer base as it offers an additional sales channel. As some entrepreneurs have been concerned that creating a website requires high level skills, the Foundation is cooperating with partners to support Thai businesses to access digital platforms more quickly and conveniently. This year, project participants will receive a special tool called a Sales Page, which is a single page that enables them to begin trading in the blink of an eye by creating a website with a free .th domain name. Reliable online store pages can boost business potential in the digital world.

“Websites are a significant tool for e-commerce business,” said Ms. Maytapriya Kumnuanwoot, president of the Thai Webmasters Association. “Digital stores allow business owners to customize information for customers to visit, regardless of the conditions of the digital platform. Therefore, having a website of one’s own gives business owners an advantage. The Thai Webmaster Association supports the project by granting participants the opportunity to join the Association as special members for a year. Members can attend WebPresso activities, receive guidance on building a website and discover how to optimize a website for maximum benefit.”

Mr. Thanawat Malabuppha, president of the Thai Electronic Commerce Entrepreneurs Association, said: “Currently, Thai people are more inclined to offer goods and services via social media platforms and online marketplaces, but websites are still essential to a business as they help build credibility with customers and provide an opportunity to expand over time. We want to recommend that business owners join as special members for a year as we are happy to provide e-commerce business advice.”

Ms. Kulthirath Pakawachkrilers, the secretary of the Thai Digital Trade Association, said, “This project will serve as a starting point for entrepreneurs to use digital platforms as a tool to develop their business. The participants are invited to join our association as special members for a year and receive advice on how to use digital tools when conducting international business as well as information on the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPA).”

According to Mr. Chaichana Mitrpant, director of the Electronic Transactions Development Agency (ETDA), one of the tasks that ETDA has always focused on while working with partners is encouraging Thai people to make online transactions with security and reliability. Supporting Thai entrepreneurs to conduct business online through websites with .th domain names not only makes it easier for goods and services to reach Thai consumers, but it also develops a trustworthy and secure online marketplace. Transparency in the service makes customers feel secure since the identity of the seller can be clearly identified. ETDA has held several training sessions to improve knowledge and digital skills to help entrepreneurs be better prepared for the new era. ETDA has also created an e-Catalog of Service Providers Profile, where entrepreneurs can choose alternative digital technology tools to upgrade their business, products and services to expand their customer base.

Those who participate in the project will receive an online store page, called a Sales Page, and a .th domain name (.co.th or .online.th or .shop.th) Other benefits provided by the project partners include free Thai Email, free professional website & marketing guide, free consulting about website creation, E-commerce business and the use of digital tools. Moreover, juristic persons who do not have the DBD Registered mark can apply for DBD Registered marks at the Department of Business Development. They can also participate in training sessions and seminars on various topics such as an intensive course on creating an online store using WooCommerce.

Those interested can apply to join the program for free at https://domain.online.th  from now until 31 December 2022.
